AUSTIN, TX, April 21, 2009--On April 7, FIATECH hosted the CETI Award Gala, in conjunction with its 2009 Technology Conference and Showcase: Where the Best Get Better, in Henderson, NV. During that ceremony, the Superior Technical Achievement Awards (STAR) were given out to six outstanding individuals who provided critical support and valuable contributions to FIATECH in 2008. As a result of their leadership, commitment and sacrifice, FIATECH was able to produce valuable tools, products and technological developments that have benefited the entire capital projects industry.

HOUSTON, TX, February 23, 2009 -- The US FIATECH construction industry consortium and the Norwegian POSC Caesar organization have announced a new standards-based interoperability infrastructure, the ISO 15926 real time interoperability network grid (iRING). The project is part of an ongoing effort from the standards bodies to ease information transfer from engineering contractors to owner operators and to ensure life cycle data management of plant and production facilities.

AUSTIN, TX, December 11, 2002--Representatives from industry met last month to address new security challenges and critical technology needs that crosscut all sectors of the industry and to identify requirements for focused research and development to meet those challenges. The Workshop, held in Lansdowne, Virginia, built upon the draft Capital Projects Technology Roadmap (CPTR) document that was created by industry earlier in the year. The revised document will be available in early 2003 and will outline a strategic plan to identify technological and business goals that must be met to realize the industry’s vision for the future as well as specific project plans requiring implementation.

AUSTIN, TX, May 28, 2008 - FIATECH has initiated a new project to identify unique post secondary educational institutions' programs and catalog instructional techniques used to teach design and construction technology. The project will be led by Allan Chasey, Ph.D., P.E., from Arizona State University and will include industry input. By identifying innovative and successful industry and academic programs that currently exist in academic institutions, these programs can be used to assist and expand the technology enabling efforts throughout the construction and engineering industry. This project was identified in the Element 8 (Technology and Knowledge-Enabled Workforce) section of FIATECH's Capital Projects Technology Roadmap, which aims at achieving a better, more highly trained, technology-educated workforce.
