Austin, TX, October 4, 2013 — Fiatech and POSC Caesar Association are requesting feedback from industry participants on key intelligent Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) and 3D deliverables. To overcome the additional costs and efforts due to the lack of interoperability between software systems today, ISO 15926 (iRING) has become the agreed upon standard to be used for data exchanges within the process plant industry. The ISO 15926 Information Models and Proteus Mappings (IIMM) project and the Geometry Special Interest Group (SIG) deliverables will enable access to intelligent design information during construction and for O&M systems.
Austin, TX, June 10, 2013 - Fiatech is launching a new project, "ISO 15926 Information Models and Proteus Mappings" (IIMM) and will conduct a project introduction webinar on June 25th. The objective of this project is to document the ISO 15926 information models for Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and 3D models in terms of ISO 15926 classes and templates. These information models were initially defined by the Proteus project along with an XML Schema (referred to as the Proteus or XMpLant 3.3.3 Schema).
Fiatech is launching a new project, "Harmonizing Industry Standards to Exchange Equipment Data" (HEED). The objective of this initiative is to demonstrate the use of electronic data exchange (EDE) to integrate and automate the processes and software applications used for performance and margin management of equipment included in mechanical systems. The use cases for this project will be based on a closed loop, heat transfer, liquid circulating (CHL) system, and will include information on centrifugal pumps, valves, motor operated valves, heat exchangers, a control system, and piping.
Austin, TX, February 15, 2012 — Fiatech is pleased to announce that it has released an "Interoperability Vision Paper" for the capital projects industry. The paper, which was recently circulated to Fiatech membership for review and input is available now for all industry sectors (including process plant, building, and infrastructure) at http://fiatech.org/projects/project-deliverables. The Vision Paper presents an overview of current activities for advancing interoperability, and puts forward building blocks with calls for action to accelerate advancement of interoperability to achieve step change value gains in the industry. We welcome input and feedback from the industry on the Vision Paper and see the document as a dynamic guide for the industry which Fiatech will up-date periodically based on industry feedback, new advancements and industry progress in achieving value gains from Interoperability.
Austin, TX, December 19, 2011 — Fiatech has published "Harmonization of Pump Schemas with the ISO 15926 Reference Data Library." The report provides an exploratory analysis of the work required to harmonize three technical activities: ISO 15926 Reference Data Library (RDL), Automating Equipment Information Exchange (AEX) cfiXML, and the Hydraulic Institute (HI) standard for Electronic Data Exchange for Pumping Equipment (HI-EDE 50.7). Each of these activities endeavors to facilitate an efficient exchange of capital facility and engineering data in an electronic format. However, they approach and solve issues in different manners.
At the 2011 FIATECH Technology Conference and Showcase two weeks ago, FIATECH announced the development of an Interoperability Vision Paper to provide an industry vision for advancing interoperability.
Building on our strong associatoin with PCA, FIATECH was invited and participated in the POSC Caesar Association's North America Meeting, held in conjunction with MIMOSA/Open O&M at Chevron's offices in Houston. Following the three-day event, members of the FIATECH Board of Advisors and the PCA Board met at Bechtel's offices to discuss future collaboration projects and activities.
