Membership in FIATECH offers the opportunity to be in the drivers seat, identifying critical technologies to improve the operations and bottom-line results for capital projects. FIATECH delivers the following benefits to all its members.

Projects

One of the key differentiators that makes FIATECH unique is our industry-driven project work. Any individual, from any member company, can participate in any active FIATECH projects. Active projects can be viewed at the FIATECH Active Project Page.

Anti-trust Protection

The umbrella of a research consortium makes it possible for organizations that might be competitors to sit at the same table, along with suppliers and others involved in the supply chain. FIATECH provides the forum (anti-trust protection) for these meetings, not easily accomplished outside of the umbrella of a non-profit.

Leveraged Funding

By pooling the membership investment of all FIATECH member organizations with additional sources of funding (federal, state, private, etc), the value of an individual organization’s investment in FIATECH is maximized. Leveraged resources to solve critical technology problems result in quicker development and deployment.

Competitive Edge

Participation in FIATECH projects provides the opportunity to get access to technology as soon as it is available, not only impacting the operations and bottom line results of a capital facility, but offering a first-to-market competitive advantage.

Capital Projects Technology Roadmap

FIATECH’s flagship project was creating an industry roadmap. A graphic that depicts the vision of this roadmap is familiar to many. Since this is an evergreen tool for the entire industry, FIATECH has nine teams (one for each element of the Roadmap) that meet regularly to 1) review and update the tactical plans in the roadmap, 2) scope and prioritize work to be done in element area, 3) prepare budget and recommendation to Board of Directors annually for future year project work, and 4) assist in formation and execution of project work. In a very real sense, the Roadmap serves as the strategic tool that steers and drives FIATECH’s investments year to year. Any member can participate on any of the nine teams. To get involved, contact Neill Pawsey, Project Manager.

Technology Tuesday Webinars

Each Tuesday, FIATECH hosts a one-hour webinar from 11-12 EST, which is made available to members. A schedule is available on line. All-inclusive members have the opportunity to present a webinar on one of the available Tuesdays of the month. In turn, as an added benefit, we promote the webinar to our entire 10K+ database of contacts (not just members).

Member Meeting & Workshops

Each fall, FIATECH hosts its annual Member Meeting, exclusively for members. The first half of the meeting is designed with plenary presentations and panel discussions highlighting member achievements and project deliverables. The second half of the meeting allows time for the Roadmap and project teams to meet. All-inclusive members are recognized as a sponsor of this event. When the need arises, FIATECH also conducts focus workshops.

Annual Technology Conference & Showcase: Where the Best Get Better!

Each spring, we host our Annual Technology Conference & Showcase, which includes plenary sessions, keynotes, breakout tracks and sessions, Award Gala and Technology Showcase. All-inclusive members are recognized as base sponsors for this event, are given a complimentary 10'x10' exhibit space, as well as one complimentary conference registration.

Project Deliverables

In addition to identifying and developing future project work and participating in active projects, members have access to any and all project deliverables that have been completed to date.

Equal Voice and Vote

All FIATECH members are treated equally, regardless of their size or which part of the industry sector they come from. There are no associate or "second-tier" membership categories.

Knowledgebase of Technical Experts

Working on FIATECH projects offers valuable opportunities to share knowledge and to have access to leading edge concepts and experts. FIATECH members come from all parts of the capital projects industry: owners, operators, contractors, universities, and suppliers. Moreover, there is unlimited access for all member company employees to participate in FIATECH activities.

Networking and Team Building

The value of networking can never be overstated. Participation in FIATECH not only produces technology benefiting all involved, but also the camaraderie and knowledge sharing resulting from such focused networking is an ancillary benefit of membership in FIATECH. Furthermore, all employees of member companies are invited to participate in member meetings and workshops.

Results

Trade groups, professional and technical organizations all compete for the time and resources of key technical and managerial staff. FIATECH activities are highly focused strictly on technologies — from highly integrated software solutions to the latest in automatic sensing tools. The desired results will produce significant cycle time and life cycle cost reductions and efficiencies in the delivery, operation, and maintenance of capital projects and facilities.
