| Collaborating with a Neutral 3D Model |

OverviewToday's integrated project environments, where multiple parties are responsible for design, construction and commissioning of the final facility turnover to the client, requires close collaboration and integration of design deliverables without compromising intellectual property (IP), forcing changes in individual company work-processes or incurring data loss. The current business model is that the 3D graphic is exchanged once or twice during the life of the project to ensure interference free design, or the constructor ends up performing manual take-offs or re-modeling the entire scope to ensure they have all the installable components accounted for in their installation plans and estimates. This project is developing the roadmap checklist and associated work-process in defining what is the minimum requirement for model exchanges (geometry as well as intelligent data) amongst the key stakeholders with different 3D modeling systems (SmartPlant, AutoPLANT, PDMS, etc,) to meet material management and construction deliverables. Member Project ParticipantsBechtel, CH2M Hill Project DeliverablesThe deliverables from this project will be a roadmap checklist and associated work process defining minimum requirements for model exchanges. These will then be shared with the FIATECH Information Integration & Data Management team to develop the associated neutral file definition to support the minimum exchange requirements. Estimated timeline to complete is nine months. |
