FIATECH Seeks Greater European Participation, Collaboration and Partnerships

AUSTIN, Texas (May 20, 2011) - FIATECH is a member-based organization making an increasingly global impact and is continuing to grow its outreach activities. FIATECH's Capital Projects Technology Roadmap is viewed internationally as a guide for the capital projects industry, giving strategy and vision to help revolutionize the delivery and operation of global projects and facilities through strategic innovation and implementation of solutions covering planning, design, construction, supply chain, operations and maintenance, project management, new materials and methods, workforce and information interoperability.

In addition to the large number of FIATECH members who conduct their business internationally, more than 35% of the current FIATECH membership is headquartered outside of the United States, including a significant number of companies operating in Europe and the Middle East.

Neill Pawsey, who is based in the UK, has been leading FIATECH operations in Europe for the past three years, but this year FIATECH is pleased to announce that it is enhancing and expanding its presence in Europe through the formation of a new European Advisory Council the purpose of which is to:

*  Support FIATECH members who are based in Europe and the Middle East
*  Provide a local base for communications, information, projects and meetings
*  Engage and partner with industry organizations in Europe who are aligned with FIATECH's mission
*  Promote FIATECH activities, events and projects in Europe
*  Represent European member interests and respond to unique geographical challenges and opportunities through projects, events  and partnerships

This newly-formed FIATECH European Advisory Council is currently comprised of representatives from European-based FIATECH members such as the University of Salford (UK), Consolidated Contractors Company (Greece), VTT Technical Research Centre (Finland) and partners such as Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment (France). However, we are also seeking other interested candidates to join this group.

Specifically, the FIATECH European Advisory Council will be participating in several key European events this year and we invite you to join us at either or both of them. We are participating in the PCA Semantic Days Event in Oslo, Norway, 7–9 June. In partnership with the international research organization CIB (Conseil International du Bâtiment - International Council for Building), FIATECH will be co-hosting an Industry Day during the Information Technology for Construction/Information and Knowledge Management in Building event in Sophia Antipolis, France on the 26-28 October 2011. Additionally, FIATECH will in partnership with SPAR Europe and Plant-tech and host a one day meeting for European and Middle East-based members on 7 November 2011 in The Hague, Netherlands.

"While FIATECH has always had an international presence and has been committed to creating global networks that reflect today's business needs, we are excited to be taking this next step to formalize our physical presence in Europe and better serve the needs of our members and others who are interested in joining," explains Ray Topping, director of FIATECH.
