A major high point at the Efficiency Through Digital Projects (ETDP) conference is the Innovation Award for Interoperability. Hosted at the Hallam Conference Centre in London on November 10th and 11th, the award presentation was made by Fiatech Director, Ray Topping, and COMIT Director, Iain Miskimmin, to Malcolm Taylor of Crossrail.
Malcolm is known for his inspiring leadership in Information Management (IM). He is a pioneer in the IM world and at the forefront of “making data work” for large Capital Project Delivery. His vision is to make information work harder, with the capability offered by new technologies, so projects can be delivered more efficiently. He also believes that Information Management needs to be focused on real business outcomes.
At Crossrail, Malcolm is at the forefront of these efforts. Crossrail has over a hundred active and interlinked contracts with 3,000+ IT users where collaboration around the classic “single source of truth” is the most effective way to make things work.
Malcolm is especially driven by the potential for BIM to bring value to Rail and Infrastructure delivery where his professional roots lie. This means creating and using information as if it were just another resource to support business and the future operations of the asset.
