Austin, TX, March 28, 2012 — Fiatech has announced the publication of "User Acceptance of Mobile IT, Phase II." The report can be obtained here.
In 2007, user acceptance of technology was identified by members of both Fiatech and its UK partner COMIT (Construction Opportunities for Mobile IT) as a critical factor in the success or failure of new technology implementation projects. Fiatech funded the two-phased project as part of its renewed focus on workforce issues in the capital projects industry.
While the Phase I report summarized the lessons learned in introducing mobile IT to the industry, the Phase II research used an industry survey to create a current "snapshot" of how the industry views mobile IT. This latest report describes the potential for mobile IT, factors that influence successful implementation, barriers to adoption, and how to overcome those barriers.
Loughborough University in the UK led the effort for Fiatech and COMIT. Several companies provided access to individuals and projects as part of the research. Fiatech acknowledges the tremendous support of Bechtel, Costain, and Balfour Betty in the project. In addition, more than 70 organizations provided feedback for the survey as well as access to project sites and staff. The publication would not have been possible without the support of these industry leaders.
