Jim Porter retired in 2008 as chief engineer and vice president, safety, health, environment, and engineering from DuPont after more than four decades of service to the company. He now heads Sustainable Operations Solutions, a consulting company he founded. Porter was instrumental during the effort to establish Fiatech. To honor him, Fiatech created the Jim Porter, Jr. Award for Technology Leadership. He is a past chair of the Construction Industry Institute, serves on several boards of directors for industry groups, and has been recognized many times for his dedicated service to industry. Porter holds a chemical engineering degree from the University of Tennessee.
